Cotton Weeds is co-owned by Michelle and Lori Maxham. Michelle worked at various paper mills until her dream of owning a quilt store came true. Lori is a former elementary school teacher who, on a whim, forwarded Michelle the e-mail that changed her life– there’s a quilt store for sale! Together, they are a dynamic duo of fabric-fondling, seam-ripping greatness.
Here at Cotton Weeds, we are dedicated to providing all of our customers with a fun experience, whether it’s shopping for fabric or taking one of our classes. We boast the best staff around, full of talented folks who have been sewing for a long time.
We carry a wide selection of fabric, wool and wool felt, needle punch and embroidery supplies, and notions. We offer a full schedule of classes each fall and winter and a limited number of classes during spring and summer. Classes range from beginner to advanced, something for everyone! We also offer children’s sewing classes through local rec departments.
Check out our fun activities as well. In April, we are part of Maine’s Shop Hop. We vend at many quilt shows and festivals in the area, including the Maine Quilt Show in Augusta, the Chickadee Quilt Show in Bridgton, and the Potato Feast in Houlton.
